Can I get into NYU? What other schools should I look at with my grades?
I got an 1870/ 2400. Cr-600 Math 570 Writing 700 Essay 12. I’m planning on studying this summer for it again and hopefully get a better score in October of my senior year. On the ACT I recieved a 26. I’m planning on taking two SAT subject tests next year for the next earliest test date after the SAT reasoning of October. But, then I won’t be able to apply early admission which I had originally planned on doing.
Curriculum:
Spanish 4 years, Latin 3 years, AP: U.S, physics, world
Next year AP: stats, calc ab, bio, language, u.s government
I’ve been volunteering at a pre-school for mentally disabled kids for over three years. I’m a Cosmo girl! Stringer. And, I’ve been doing a science research program for the last three years and I am planning to submit an intel paper at the end of this summer.
If you have any other advice on schools I should look into please help! I believe I want to major in business marketing and minor in English. Thanks!
Wonderful! Just make sure you improve on the SATs/ACT scores.
Just please keep in mind that grades aren’t everything. And it’s wonderful to see that you are actively involved in extracurriculars and community service. Colleges like to see that you are open to a wide variety of interests/activities/subjects.
And it doesn’t hurt to try applying to NYU. Apply to any school you want. An conduct research on colleges. College research is a valuable tool, because you are looking for what suits you, and not just applying to a school because someone tells you to.
If you feel that you can handle their [the colleges'] academic environment, prove it in your application. Colleges look at grades and such, but what they really want to know is if you can handle their curriculum and their academic environment.
A good friend of mine has a B average and she still got acceptances from UCLA, Princeton, NYU, and other such prestigious schools, most likely because she was able to prove that she could handle the academic rigors of their institutions.
