Scholarships at The George Washington University?

Hi,

I am interested in The George Washington University and am wondering if I have a good chance at getting in, and if I do, what my chances at scholarships are…

Here are my stats-

ACT: 30
GPA: 3.85ish (unweighted)
4.2ish (weighted)
Extra curriculars: Tennis, Quiz Bowl, Youth Group, Beta Club, NHS, Spanish Honorary, Part time job, Volunteer work at an animal shelter

I will have taken 6 AP classes and numerous honors classes by the time I graduate next year.

Also, I am from Arkansas… I didn’t know if that might make a difference for diversity reasons or something like that…

Thank you for your help,

JL

I would disagree. First, it depends on what you want to study. if you want to study politics or international relations, journalism ect. GWU is an amazing school, George Mason doesn’t even rival it, and from everything I heard the reviews for that school are MUCH worse. GWU is ranked top 10 im the country for international relations, and is one of the best schools in the world. On the other hand if you want to study science, I would steer away unless you got a scholarship. Now on chances of getting a scholarship vary. Your academics are strong for acceptance, and you should deff. get some scholarship money. Also, GWU gives a lot of financial grants and scholarships. I will say that I doubt you will get a full ride, I would plan on getting maybe a partial scholarship of about 15,000$. You do have to apply for them, but your stats are very strong so you should do fine. Also, the fact that you are from arkansas will help you get it, but it probably won’t help you much in terms of scholarships. But if it is the school of you choice you can make it work. ALSO, yeah GWU has the highest tuiton in the country but all ivies and Georgetown cost within 3,000 dollars so its the diff. between 40k and 37k (which when youre paying that much, isn’t really worth not going to GWU) let me know if you have any other questions!
